  I was always uncomfortable with the money grubbing announcements at assemblies even as a full on jw. I always thought this and thought it was an unchristian thing to do.

  I freaked first time they announced credit card facilities at a dc. It wasn't that I was opposed to the practicality of it but rather the ideology and values represented by the machines as being opposed to jw so called values. I never ever told anyone what I really thought. All this was before ttatt ( but not that long) so believe me, there'll be others secretly squirming too.

  Agreed. What sort of parent threatens to kill his kid for disobeying? When it happens in some of those Muslim communities the world is outraged. Yet God says he will do the same and believers be like, "serves them right!"

  Well I agree with you VG, even though I am not a believer per se. The words attributed to Jesus in the gospels specifically speak out against giving titles and big noting oneself, seeking glory from men. Jesus promoted a humble religion where all were to be equal with no-one having titles , and a lot of believers have lost sight of this fact. Organised religion cannot function without titles and hierarchy, yet these are the very things Jesus told his followers not to do. One could then reason that Jesus was not advocating an organised religion, but a peaceful life of good works and private spirituality.

  It usually takes a few years for it to sink in and for a jw to wake up after some change like the generation thing or disappointment like 1975. I believe there won't be a mass exodus but a stream of people leaving in about 2020.

  we get so engrossed in discussions during the family worship evening that it often goes on till late at night if i dont stop my family, .

  if you want to keep abreast of the watchtower, this is a great place to find out the latest in jw land.

  I'd have a literature corner for ex jws to put poetry, biographies, short stories and that and an art corner for members to display original works.
